02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool surface

Wool fiber carries its own natural oil, lanolin; dust and dirt sit on the surface instead of entering the fiber. That is why a vacuum does so much.

02

Authentic pattern layout

Authentic pattern. The ground and the motif are not parts of separate processes but of the same weave; the two advance together. The ground tone is colorful.

03

Türkiye work

This rug is woven in Türkiye. We write down where it comes from, because we want to be able to name the workshop when someone asks.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. What wears a rug down over the years is not a stain but the dust that settles at the base of the pile and grinds the fibers from inside with every step.

Multicolor Anatolian Hand-Knotted Wool Rug — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

At 194 × 278 cm (6'4" × 9'1") this is a full salon size, which puts it under an entire seating group rather than in front of one. Made by hand in Türkiye, wool over cotton, multicolored, with Anatolian motifs drawn the width of the field.

01Coming off the loom

Sandık eskisi: it was made for a chest and kept in one. Anatolian village drawing does not organize itself around a single medallion the way a workshop rug does. Figures are set out in rows and columns, each one complete in itself, and the borders repeat a smaller version of what is going on inside.

02What Wool does

Because the weaver worked from count rather than from a cartoon, the columns drift slightly out of true as the rug rises — that drift is the signature of hand work, and it is what to check first on a rug of this kind. Wool pile on a cotton foundation, which is the combination that lets a rug of five and a half square meters stay flat instead of rippling. A piece that spent its life folded away arrives with creases and with pile that has been compressed in the fold lines; both ease with time on a floor and neither is a fault.

03The origin of the pattern

The house gives no age for it, and the trade's own terms — antique from a hundred years, semi-antique from fifty, vintage from twenty — are conventions that nobody issues or certifies.

04Knot by knot, by hand

Professional washing, by someone used to older wool. Hand-knotted in Türkiye, 194 × 278 cm (6'4" × 9'1"). Wool pile on a cotton foundation. Multicolored Anatolian drawing, set out in rows rather than around a medallion. The columns drift slightly, because it was counted rather than traced. Sandık eskisi — made for a chest and kept there. Fold creases and compressed pile along the folds; both settle with use. No age is claimed for it, and trade age terms are unregulated conventions. Professional washing. Five and a half square meters of hand-knotting is what a household used to save for, and this one was saved rather than spent.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
