Four things that set this rug apart

Wool surface

On the surface: Wool, Silk, Cotton. The same pattern woven in another yarn becomes another rug; the difference shows at the first touch.

Traditional motif

Traditional pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a charcoal, gray ground.

Pakistan loom

This rug is woven in Pakistan. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

The story of this rug

Ayan Series, woven by hand in Pakistan at 194 × 291 cm (6'4" × 9'7"). A vintage drawing in wool, cotton and silk, anthracite across the field with gray moving through the motifs. One piece. Vintage, in this series, means a classical drawing with the contrast taken out of it.

01Up close to the pattern

The motifs are the old ones; what has changed is that they sit only a shade or two away from the ground, so the pattern arrives slowly instead of announcing itself. Anthracite is what makes that work.

02Color, by the light

It is dark enough not to register every mark under a table, and neutral enough that the gray in the drawing is the only color the rest of the room has to answer to. The silk is in the drawing rather than the ground, which is why the motifs take light at a different angle than the wool does and change as you walk past them.

03What the yarn is

Cotton runs through the foundation and keeps the piece lying flat. Pakistan has woven the classical Anatolian and Persian repertoire for generations, and this is a piece from that tradition rather than a copy of one specific old rug. Professional washing, and nothing improvised in between. Woven by hand in Pakistan. Wool and silk in the pile, cotton in the foundation. Anthracite field with gray vintage motifs, low contrast throughout. Silk catches light separately from the wool, so the drawing shifts as you move. 194 × 291 cm (6'4" × 9'7") — sitting room or main bedroom. Professional washing. One piece. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
