The story of this rug

The color of a flowerpot before anybody has glazed it, run in bands across a flatweave: Terracotta Striped Loom-Woven Wool Kilim, Bohem Series, 193 × 280 cm (6'4" × 9'2"), made in Türkiye from wool with a cotton structure, pileless on both faces. Terracotta is the warmest color that does not read as red, and on a kilim it behaves like unfired clay rather than like dye — matte, faintly uneven, absorbing light instead of handing it back.

01From ground to pile

Wool is what produces that. A synthetic yarn in the same shade returns a slight gloss and immediately looks like a copy of this. The banding gives a large flat surface something to be read along, and because a kilim has no front, the same bands are waiting on the other side. The loom does the building and a person does the closing, which is what loom-woven means and why this construction sits between a knotted rug in price and a machine-made one in feel.

02Coming off the loom

Flatweaves are light, and a light rug on a smooth floor travels — a pad underneath is not optional if it is going somewhere people walk. It rolls up small enough to be put away for a season and comes back without creases. Send it for a professional wash rather than treating it at home. Made on a loom in Türkiye, wool over cotton. Terracotta bands, matte, with the unevenness wool gives a warm color. 193 × 280 cm (6'4" × 9'2"), no pile, identical on both faces. Turn it over at the end of a season and use the second side. Light enough to slide on a smooth floor; use a pad. Rolls small for storage and recovers its shape. Priced and made between the knotted rug and the machine-made one. Professional washing.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
