01What it sits well with

A fine linear structure runs across the field and gives it a slow, regular movement, and at this size the rug draws a clean rectangle that settles whatever furniture is standing on it. Underfoot the fiber is firm and slightly textured — you register it through your feet before you look down. It works hardest in an entrance, a conservatory or a kitchen, where a rug is asked to define a space rather than decorate one. 02What the yarn is

Plant fiber absorbs very little, so day-to-day marks stay on the surface and lift away — but the same rug cannot be wet-washed at all, because water is what destroys it. Castors and stiletto heels crush the weave and belong somewhere else.
