The story of this rug

A wool kilim bag, handwoven in Türkiye and finished at 25 × 26 cm (10" × 10") — kilim brought down to the size of something you carry, in the multicolor Anatolian drawing the technique has always used. Flatweave, wool throughout, no pile. One was made, and this is it. Nothing about the weaving changes when a kilim comes down to this size.

01A line from the archive

It is still weft-faced work, the colored wefts packed over the warps until no foundation shows, and the figures are still counted out rather than drawn. What changes is the tolerance. On a floor kilim a motif can run a little wide and nobody looks twice; across twenty-five centimeters it is read at arm's length. Wool takes dye deeply, which is why colors in a piece this small still have depth in them instead of sitting as flat blocks. Handwoven in wool, in Türkiye. Kilim flatweave — weft-faced, patterned on both faces, with no pile. Multicolor, in the Anatolian motif vocabulary the house files under its authentic patterns. Measures 25 × 26 cm (10" × 10") overall. Nothing here cushions what it carries; a flatweave has no thickness to give. Professional washing. One piece.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
