The story of this rug

45 × 91 cm (1'6" × 3'0") — narrow and long, the proportion of a window seat rather than an armchair. The face is red Anatolian village weaving in wool, hand-knotted, made up as a cushion cover.

01Color that shifts through the day

The Turkish label calls it sandık eskisi, which is to say the weaving was stored rather than worn out. Red is the ground and it is a madder red rather than a scarlet: brick at the edges, deeper in the middle of a thread, the color changing slightly wherever the dye lot did.

02Reading the motif

Over it run the small hooked and stepped figures of Anatolian village drawing, outlined in cream so they hold their shape at close range. At pillow scale you see the knots individually, which you never do standing over a rug. Wool pile on a cotton back-structure, the way a knotted weaving is always built.

03What it sits well with

A rug-faced pillow is heavier and stiffer than a fabric one and it does not slump into the small of your back — it is a piece to lean a room on rather than to lie against, and anyone expecting a soft cushion should know that first.

The cover cannot go in a machine; it cleans the way a rug cleans, by a professional. Face hand-knotted in wool, Anatolian village weaving from Türkiye. Madder-toned red ground with cream-outlined hooked figures. Chest-kept weaving — stored rather than walked on. 45 × 91 cm (1'6" × 3'0") — a long, narrow bolster proportion. Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
