02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool surface

On the surface: Wool. The same pattern woven in another yarn becomes another rug; the difference shows at the first touch.

02

Tribal motif

Tribal pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a colorful ground.

03

Türkiye loom

This rug is woven in Türkiye. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

Technical details

Multicolor Handwoven Wool Kilim, Anatolian Motifs — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

A handwoven Anatolian kilim, all wool and nothing else, 155 × 325 cm (5'1" × 10'8"): flat, pileless, and multicolored in the way village weaving is multicolored, meaning several dyes at full strength rather than one field with accents.

01What Wool does

Woven in Türkiye, listed among the house's older stock, and there is one of it. An all-wool kilim is a different object from a wool-on-cotton one, and the difference is in the hand. Cotton warps give a flatweave a certain rigidity and a straighter edge; wool warps let the whole piece move, so it drapes, folds soft and settles into a floor that is not perfectly level instead of bridging over it. The cost of that is the edge — an all-wool kilim rarely sits dead straight, and this one does not pretend to.

02At the loom in in Anatolia

The motifs sit in bands across the width, the way the weaver worked, row after row from one end. Everything visible was done on a two-beam loom by one pair of hands, and the drawing was carried in memory. That is legible in the piece: a motif that is two knots wider in its fourth repeat than in its first, a border that adjusts itself where the weaver ran out of room. Anatolian motif families are older than the kilims that carry them, and a village weaver used them as a working vocabulary rather than as ornament.

03A question of size

Take it to a specialist for washing, and put a thin pad beneath it, since a flatweave with nothing under it travels across a hard floor. Handwoven in Türkiye, warp and weft both wool. Flat-woven with no pile, and the reverse as finished as the face. 155 × 325 cm (5'1" × 10'8"), a little over five square meters. Multicolored bands of Anatolian motifs, worked from memory rather than a cartoon. All-wool construction drapes and folds soft; the edges are not perfectly straight. An older piece from the house's rare stock. A thin pad underneath keeps it from walking. Specialist washing. A kilim this size is light enough to move on a whim, which is how most of them end up in a different room each year.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
