02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool weave

Wool is naturally hard to ignite; an ember landing on it goes out by itself without catching flame. That is why wool is chosen in front of a fireplace.

02

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern. The motif is not printed on the surface; it is built as the rug is woven. The ground is colorful, orange.

03

Türkiye weave

This rug is woven in Türkiye and carries the weaving tradition of that region. The place of production is stated openly on the spec sheet.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Blot a spill with a dry cloth instead of rubbing it; rubbing spreads the stain and mats the pile.

Orange Cicim Handwoven Wool Kilim, Anatolian Motifs — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

An orange-leaning ground, and Anatolian motifs brocaded across it in the cicim method: this is a handwoven kilim in wool and cotton, 183 × 315 cm (6'0" × 10'4"), old, from Türkiye, and singular.

01A question of size

At close to six square meters it is a full room-sized flatweave, which is unusual for a piece worked this way. Cicim is slow. Every motif thread is laid in by hand as the ground advances, so the technique is normally kept for small pieces, cushion faces and runners where the labor is contained.

02Knot by knot, by hand

Carrying it across six square meters means the weaver did the slow thing at scale, and the drawing accordingly does not repeat in the mechanical way a large kilim often does — it accumulates.

03Color that shifts through the day

The orange in the ground is not a single dye laid flat either; it is the temperature the whole field settles at, warm enough to pull a room toward it and broken often enough by the brocaded colors that it never becomes one loud plane. Wool over a cotton warp.

04How it feels underfoot

The cotton is what makes this size possible at all: a six-square-meter all-wool flatweave will not hold a true rectangle under its own weight, and the cotton takes the tension so the piece stays square.

05Up close to the pattern

The brocading gives the surface a low relief, which means it collects a little more dust in the motif areas than a plain kilim would, and a plain suction head will take that out without dragging at the raised threads. Keep the beater bar away from it.

06How many centimeters, which room

Washing goes to a specialist. Handwoven in Türkiye — cicim brocading in wool over a cotton warp. 183 × 315 cm (6'0" × 10'4"), close to six square meters and room-sized. An orange-leaning ground with Anatolian motifs laid over it in relief. Cicim at this scale is rare; the labor is normally reserved for small pieces. The cotton warp is what keeps a flatweave this large square. Dust settles in the raised motif areas; use plain suction, never a beater bar. An older piece from the house's rare stock. Specialist washing. One piece only. Six square meters of hand brocading is a decision somebody made once, and nobody in that village is likely to make it again.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
