02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool weave

Wool pile absorbs sound; in rooms with hard floors the echo drops noticeably. In a high-ceilinged living room you hear the difference on the first day.

02

Authentic motif

Authentic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a colorful ground.

03

Türkiye loom

This rug is woven in Türkiye. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

Multicolor Anatolian Cicim Handwoven Wool Kilim — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Cicim is not the flat part of a kilim but the raised part: threads wrapped around the warps while the ground is being woven, so the motifs stand above the surface. This piece is worked that way across 161 × 392 cm (5'3" × 12'10") of handwoven wool, multicolored, made in Türkiye and held among the house's older stock. At nearly four meters this is one of the pieces that used to be laid down the middle of a village house, and the drawing is organized for that length: motif units in rows, changing color as they go, with the cicim work catching light along the tops of the figures while the ground stays matt.

01The origin of the pattern

Run a hand along it and you feel the pattern before you see it. That is the difference between cicim and a plain kilim, and it is what your fingers find first. Wool throughout, woven and wrapped by hand.

02Knot by knot, by hand

Cicim takes longer than plain weaving because the wrapping is done thread by thread on a ground that still has to be beaten in, so a piece this size is months of work rather than weeks. The house lists it as old and as rare, and lists it that way without putting a year on it, which is the honest position — no authority dates a village weaving. Some of the raised threads on any old cicim will have worn or been repaired; that is the material's history and not a fault.

03Color that shifts through the day

Professional cleaning, and keep it off damp stone. Handwoven wool kilim with cicim motif work, made in Türkiye. 161 × 392 cm (5'3" × 12'10") — a large sitting room or a long central hall. Motifs raised above the flat ground, so the pattern can be felt as well as seen. Multicolored, with the units changing color along the length. Listed by the house among its old and rare pieces; no date is claimed for it. Wrapped thread by thread — months of work rather than weeks. Professional cleaning; keep it away from damp floors. A rug you can read with your fingers is a different proposition from one you only look at, and it is the older idea by a long way.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
