The story of this rug

Nothing in the range is narrow: 140 × 200 cm (4'7" × 6'7") at one end, 250 × 350 cm (8'2" × 11'6") at the other, so this is a room rug and not a hall piece. White, damask, handwoven in India, its blend cotton, bamboo viscose and wool. White is the point and also the difficulty.

01What Wool does

A damask repeat drawn white on white has nothing to rely on except fiber: where the pattern is worked in bamboo viscose it reflects, and where the ground is cotton and wool it absorbs, so the figure exists as a change in surface rather than a change in color. Move the lamp and the pattern moves with it. Hands did the weaving in India, over a cotton foundation, with wool in the mix to give the pile some substance underfoot — a purely cellulose rug at this size would feel thin.

02The Wool on the surface

That wool is also what makes the white forgiving, since a wool blend takes a footprint and lets it go where a pure viscose surface holds one. It still wants a professional clean rather than a home one, and it still belongs in a room where nothing red is being carried across it. Handwoven in India — cotton, bamboo viscose and wool. White damask, the pattern read as a change of surface rather than of color. Sizes from 140 × 200 cm to 250 × 350 cm. The wool content gives the pile body and helps the surface recover. Room sizes only; there is no runner width in the range. Professional washing. The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
