The tiny flower and medallion motifs scattered over the navy blue background actually form a special composition called "Flower of the Seven Mountains." This dark navy tone is already known as the hallmark of Hereke rugs. Inspired by the seven hills of Istanbul, this pattern brings together nine flowers and began to be woven by the decree of Sultan Abdulhamid II in the early 20th century. The burgundy-toned border surrounds this historic pattern, while the patterns inside the border and the fine floral water path outside add layered depth to the composition.
