Handwoven Hereke Patterned Navy Wool Rug, is one of the original Hereke rugs that are increasingly difficult to find today, offering a carefully selected size of 90 x 159 cm suitable for entrances, foyers, and bedrooms. Hereke is a historic town near İzmit, known for its weaving tradition that has lasted over a century. Rugs bearing the name of this town are known for having been woven for the Ottoman palace in the past. The tiny flower and medallion motifs scattered over the navy blue background actually form a special composition called "Flower of the Seven Mountains." This dark navy tone is already known as the hallmark of Hereke rugs. Inspired by the seven hills of Istanbul, this pattern brings together nine flowers and began to be woven by the decree of Sultan Abdulhamid II in the early 20th century. The burgundy-toned border surrounds this historic pattern, while the patterns inside the border and the fine floral water path outside add layered depth to the composition.
Handwoven Hereke Patterned Navy Wool Rug, It is a genuine original Hereke rug woven with a woolen surface on a cotton skeleton, certified authentic by the "Hereke" signature in its corners. This rug, woven with Sümerbank yarns, took several months to complete. This long and patient process embeds the artisans' craftsmanship into every square centimeter of the rug. Due to being handwoven and an original Hereke production, this rug, which now holds collection value, carries the traces of a great heritage despite its small size.
