02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Viscose weave

The shine of viscose comes from the flat face of the fiber, not from a coating applied afterward. The surface may wear, the light stays.

02

Classic pattern

Classic pattern. The motif is not printed on the surface; it is built as the rug is woven. The ground is beige, cream, taupe.

03

China weave

This rug is woven in China and carries the weaving tradition of that region. The place of production is stated openly on the spec sheet.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Blot a spill with a dry cloth instead of rubbing it; rubbing spreads the stain and mats the pile.

Cream Classic Hand-Knotted Viscose Rug — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

This looks like a silk rug and is not one. The pile is viscose, with a small proportion of synthetic yarn worked in for strength, and the house prefers to say so outright. Cream ground, gold and blue Anatolian motifs, knotted by hand in China over a run of months.

01Color that shifts through the day

Thin, bright, and made once. Gold and blue is a pairing classical weaving uses sparingly, because gold turns brassy against the wrong ground; on cream it stays warm. The Anatolian motifs are drawn small and repeated over the field instead of collecting into a medallion, so the rug has no single center and can be turned in a room without looking wrong.

02How it feels underfoot

Viscose returns light strongly, which is why the gold reads as metal from standing height and as ordinary yellow when you crouch beside it. Most of the yarn is viscose, a fiber spun from cellulose that takes dye brilliantly and takes light the way silk does; the remainder is synthetic, added for tensile strength, because viscose on its own is weak when wet.

03From the hand of the weaver

The knots run into the hundreds of thousands, all set by hand in China over months. The trade-off is the honest part: viscose delivers the sheen and the thinness of silk at a different level of the market, and in exchange it marks more easily and dislikes standing water.

04The Wool on the surface

It should be washed by hands that know what they are doing, and by no others. Tied in China by hand, across months of work. Mostly viscose, with a small share of synthetic yarn for strength. Cream ground with gold and blue Anatolian motifs across the field. Thin and bright, with a silk-like return of light. Marks more readily than wool and does not like standing water. No central medallion, so it can be laid in either direction. Washing by a specialist only. A single piece. Is viscose the same thing as silk? No.

05What the yarn is

Viscose is spun from cellulose and silk is spun by an insect. Viscose reflects light in a similar way and can be woven just as fine, but it is weaker, particularly when wet, and it will not wear as long as silk or wool. Why is there synthetic yarn in a hand-knotted rug? Viscose has low tensile strength on its own.

06When you walk in

A small proportion of synthetic yarn is worked in to keep the structure sound under weight, and this house states the content rather than describing the rug as entirely plant-based. What it gives up in ruggedness it returns in light, which is a fair exchange in a room with enough furniture to hold the floor down.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
