Gray Abstract-Pattern Hand-Knotted Bamboo Viscose Rug

Seen from a doorway it looks like a street plan: straight gray lines meeting at intervals, ordered but never quite regular, the blocks between them left empty. The grays are close together in tone, which is what keeps a geometric drawing from turning into a graphic. 01How it feels underfoot

Bamboo viscose reflects, so one line can look lit from one end of the room and dull from the other; walk the length of the rug and the pattern reverses itself. Gray this neutral takes pastels and deep tones equally. Cotton gives the rug its structure and bamboo viscose gives it its surface, which is spun from cellulose and handles more like silk than like wool. That has a consequence: a viscose surface takes a footmark and holds it until brushed, and it will not tolerate a household shampoo or a steam cleaner.
