Red Abstract Hand-Knotted Bamboo Viscose Rug

Bamboo viscose is the fiber that makes this one work: knotted by hand in India, bamboo viscose over a cotton foundation and set at a density well above average, in a red abstract drawing with black in it, the surface bright rather than matt and unusually soft to walk on. Red at this saturation is normally the property of wool, and wool would give it a duller face. Bamboo viscose is cellulose, spun and finished so that it reflects, so the red arrives with light already in it and moves between deep and almost lacquered as the angle changes.

Bamboo viscose is not silk, and the house does not call it silk. A bright surface of this kind records pressure, so furniture legs and footfall will leave a temporary mark until the pile is brushed back.
