02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool yarn

The air trapped between wool fibers holds heat and keeps the cold of the floor from your feet. The same air balances humidity in summer.

02

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern. The motif is built while the rug is woven; there is no layer printed on afterward. There is colorful in the ground.

03

Afghanistan weaving tradition

This rug is woven in Afghanistan. Where a rug is from is read in its knot and its yarn more than in its pattern; that is why the place on the spec sheet matters.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Once a week with a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile, is enough for everyday care.

Multicolor Ethnic Handwoven Wool Kilim — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

This is a handwoven wool kilim, 101 × 154 cm (3'4" × 5'1"), flat-woven by hand in wool and cotton with no pile at all, its field filled edge to edge with small ethnic motifs in orange, blue, yellow and cream.

01Comes from from Afghanistan

The drawing follows Turkmen and Afghan traditions. It is one piece and there is no other in this exact arrangement. A kilim has no knots: the weft is beaten down over the warp until the pattern is the cloth itself, which is why both faces read almost the same and why the whole thing folds into a bag.

02At the loom in in Afghanistan

The motifs here are small and repeated in bands — hooks, stepped diamonds, little combs — the vocabulary Turkmen and Afghan weavers carry between camps and settlements. Orange runs hottest, blue cools it at the band edges, and yellow appears in short bursts rather than as a field.

03What the yarn is

Cream is the pause between them. Wool for the surface, cotton for the warp that holds it, all worked by hand. Because it is flat, it weighs almost nothing for its size and can be lifted, shaken out and put back by one person — which is the practical reason kilims ended up in doorways and kitchens rather than under furniture.

04The feel of the surface

It is thin, so on a hard floor it will feel like cloth underfoot rather than like a rug; if you want depth under your feet, this is not the piece for that. Professional cleaning is what it wants. Flat-woven kilim: wool surface on a cotton warp, no pile. Turkmen and Afghan motif traditions, drawn in repeating bands. Orange, blue, yellow and cream, with cream doing the spacing. 101 × 154 cm (3'4" × 5'1") — an entry, a kitchen run, or the foot of a bed. Light enough to lift and shake out by hand. Reversible in effect; both faces carry the pattern. Have it professionally cleaned rather than washing it at home. Woven as a single piece; the color arrangement is not repeated. Hung on a wall it stops being furniture and becomes the drawing it always was.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
