The story of this rug

It is 25 × 26 cm (10" × 10"), which is small enough that it should be said before anything else — a handwoven wool kilim saddlebag from Türkiye, flat-woven in the authentic Anatolian drawing, made once. This is an object for a phone, a notebook and keys, not for a day's things. The rest of it is straightforward.

01The mark of slow weaving

Wool is worked here as a weft-faced flatweave, which means the colored threads are packed down over the warp until the warp disappears and the pattern belongs to the fabric rather than sitting on top of it.

02How it feels underfoot

Handwork of this kind leaves small irregularities along the edges: a row that runs a fraction long, a color that steps where one batch of yarn ended. Those are marks of the method, and a machine would have taken them out. Wool, handwoven in Türkiye, in the heybe form. Weft-faced flatweave — the warp is covered and the pattern is in the cloth. Authentic Anatolian drawing. Capacity is set by 25 × 26 cm (10" × 10"): keys, a notebook, a phone, and that is the honest limit. Edges show small irregularities from hand weaving. Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
