The story of this rug

The color arrives after the weaving as much as during it. Retro rugs are washed and their yarn treated by particular methods, and that is where the shine on this one comes from: Yellow Washed Oushak Hand-Knotted Wool Rug, Retro Series, 204 × 291 cm (6'8" × 9'7"), hand-knotted between Pakistan and Afghanistan, wool over cotton. At close to six square meters the yellow is not an accent.

01The tone of the ground

It is the base color of the room, and everything else will be read against it. The Oushak drawing underneath is centuries old and has been recolored rather than redrawn, so the motifs keep their proportions and lose their period.

02The mark of slow weaving

A bright yellow and a deeper, duller one are used together, and the difference between them is where the depth lives; a single yellow at this scale would go flat by the second week. Wool pile, cotton warp, knotted by hand, and a small proportion of recycled synthetic thread in the base, which Halıcızade names instead of glossing over.

03Where it sits in the house

The construction is thin for a rug this large, which matters when furniture has to be dragged across it. Classical and modern pieces both stand on it without argument, and that is more than most strongly colored rugs manage.

04What Wool does

Vacuum regularly; a professional wash restores the shine the finishing put there. Knotted by hand in Pakistan and Afghanistan. A wool surface over cotton, with recycled synthetic thread adding rigidity below. Centuries-old Oushak motifs recolored, not redrawn. Two yellows, one bright and one dull, worked together for depth. Washing and yarn-dyeing methods are what produce the shine. 204 × 291 cm (6'8" × 9'7"), close to six square meters. Thin for its size, which helps when furniture moves across it. Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
