The border is raised, and you find that out with your feet before you notice it with your eyes. The relief in the border is the whole of the design — no figures, no medallion, just a raised frame that catches shadow along its inner edge and gives an otherwise plain rug something to be. In a child's room it is large enough to hold a bed and a floor to play on, which is the size most pink rugs are not. This is the loom-woven method: regular enough to keep a border straight, worked closely enough to feel like a knotted rug underfoot.

02How it feels underfoot

Cotton, wool and bamboo viscose share the surface, so the hand is soft with a slight coolness to it and there is a faint luster across the pink. It is woven at the usual thickness rather than thin, and it sheds and drops very little. Cleaning should go to a rug workshop and not to a laundry.
