Tezgah Dokuma Geometrik Desenli Gri Halı'da desen, çizgi yönünden doğuyor. Full description

Gray Geometric Loom-Woven Wool Rug: a gray ground carrying a geometric repeat, made in India, its surface wool and cotton, the figures picked out in bamboo viscose, and measuring 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). Loom-woven names a middle construction: the loom lays down structure and pile, and a person closes the ends afterward.

The repeat is drawn large and set well apart, which is the correct call over three meters — a small figure multiplied across that much floor reads as static from the doorway. The shapes here are about the size of a hand, with plenty of gray field showing between them. Where the bamboo viscose lies in the figures the surface returns light and where the wool lies it holds it, so the pattern comes and goes as you walk the length of the room.

A loom-woven rug is denser and more regular than a machine-made one and takes a fraction of the hours a knotted rug does, which is the whole reason the construction exists. The regularity is also the limitation, and worth naming: there is none of the wandering that gives a village rug its character. If irregularity is what you are after, this is not the rug. Professional washing when vacuuming has stopped keeping up.

What separates loom-woven from hand-knotted?

Every knot in a hand-knotted rug is tied onto the warp by a person. On a loom-woven piece the machine builds ground and pile together, and the human work sits at the finish: ends, fringes, selvedges. The surface comes out more regular, and the piece takes far fewer hours and less money to make.

What is bamboo viscose doing in a wool rug?

Bamboo viscose is a cellulose yarn spun for its shine, and it is used here in the pattern rather than the ground. Because it reflects light where the wool absorbs it, the figures brighten and dull as the viewing angle changes, without any second color being woven in.

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
