02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool yarn

The surface uses Wool. How a rug will feel is set first by the yarn, not by the pattern.

02

Tribal pattern

Tribal pattern. The motif is not printed on the surface; it is built as the rug is woven. The ground is colorful.

03

Türkiye weave

This rug is woven in Türkiye and carries the weaving tradition of that region. The place of production is stated openly on the spec sheet.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Blot a spill with a dry cloth instead of rubbing it; rubbing spreads the stain and mats the pile.

Technical details

Multicolor Patchwork Handwoven Wool Rug, Anadolu Şal Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

A patchwork rug is made out of other rugs. Panels are cut from older handwoven wool pieces, shaved to a common pile height, laid out and stitched into one field — which is how this Anadolu Şal piece arrives at 117 × 185 cm (3'10" × 6'1") carrying half a dozen colors and more than one weaving region at once.

01What the yarn is

Wool throughout, made in Türkiye. One piece, and by construction it could not be otherwise. Anadolu Şal is the series name and stays in Turkish; şal means shawl, and the reference is to the pieced, banded look of a shawl rather than to any rug pattern.

02The mark of slow weaving

Because the panels come out of separate weavings, the colors were never chosen together, and that is the point — a patchwork works by collision rather than by harmony. Bring one home expecting it to match the room and it will not.

03Where it sits in the house

Bring it home to be the thing the room is arranged around and it will hold that job for years. The seams are the honest part. Run a hand across a patchwork and you will find every join; at close range the panels differ in pile height, in wear and sometimes in weave, because they were woven by different people in different decades. Anyone wanting an even floor should look elsewhere.

04Up close to the pattern

Ethnic is the design classification the house gives it and that is accurate — nothing about the piece is trying to look composed. Professional washing, and no shortcuts: the stitching is what holds it together. Handwoven in Türkiye; wool is the only fiber the house declares. Assembled from panels cut out of older weavings and stitched into one field. 117 × 185 cm (3'10" × 6'1"), a little over two square meters. The joins can be felt underfoot and the panels differ in pile height and wear. Colors were never selected together; the effect is collision, not harmony. Professional washing. One piece — no two patchworks can be alike. How is a patchwork rug made? Panels are cut out of older handwoven rugs, shaved to a common pile height, arranged into a new field and stitched together.

05Knot by knot, by hand

One finished piece can therefore carry several weaving regions and several decades in a single surface. Do the seams in a patchwork rug show? Yes. The joins can be felt underfoot and are visible at close range, and the panels will not match exactly in pile height or in wear. That belongs to the construction rather than being a fault in any particular piece. Every panel in it outlived the rug it was cut from, which is a better argument for the format than anything anyone has written about it.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
