Saruj Series

If nobility were a carpet, it would be Saruj. With its tightly knotted weave and patterns and colors that have endured for centuries, the Saruj collection, often favored by aristocracy, is one of our favorites.

What sets the Saruj Collection apart is its knot density and yarn quality: tightly packed floral compositions, deep burgundy and cream surfaces, heavy border frames.

This is the kind of rug that quietly takes over a room the moment it is laid down —and whose absence would be felt just as strongly. Crafted in experienced workshops in India and Afghanistan over 8 to 10 months, the Saruj Collection delivers classical rug aesthetics at the highest level of both yarn and craftsmanship.

Ushak, Mamluk and Medallion: The Pinnacle of Classical Design

Three great classical traditions meet in the Saruj Collection. Ushak motifs — the crowned reference of rug art for centuries —fill the field with large floral forms and symmetrical vines.

Mamluk designs reach the height of geometric symmetry through star forms and nested panels in gold and earth tones. Medallion-Ushak models define a room's focal point on their own.

All patterns hold their detail just as sharply up close as from across the room —that is the clarity a high knot density delivers.

Kirman Wool and Manchester Cotton

The collection uses two premium yarn combinations. One group features Kirman wool from Iran —among the most prestigious yarn types in the rug world, prized for its lustre, longevity and color depth.

The other uses Manchester cotton, a finer and more durable alternative to standard cotton. Both are built on the same architecture: wool pile over a cotton foundation. The quality announces itself on first touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Kirman Wool and Why Is It Premium?

Kirman wool is sourced from Iran's Kirman region and prized for its exceptional lustre and color retention. It produces a brighter, longer-lasting pile than standard wool —particularly visible in dense floral and medallion compositions.

What Is Manchester Cotton?

A premium-grade cotton yarn, brighter and more durable than standard cotton. Used in the rug's foundation structure, it adds strength and a polished,light-reflecting quality to the finished piece.

What Spaces Suit the Saruj Collection?

Its dense pattern and weighty colour character make it ideal for large living rooms, executive offices and prestigious reception areas. It pairs naturally with dark walnut furniture, leather upholstery and classic interiors. Smaller formats work as strong accents in intimate corners and bedrooms.

How Does Saruj Differ from the Mihman Collection?

Mihman leads with figurative Tree of Life designs and a bold colour palette. Saruj speaks a denser, more formal language: tightly packed florals, deep burgundy and cream tones, heavy borders. Saruj also offers higher-grade yarn options such as Kirman wool.
