01The Wool on the surface

Wool and bamboo viscose over a cotton base. Only one was made. Vintage here describes a way of drawing and not an age. The motifs are set down with soft edges and low contrast so the pattern appears to have faded before it was ever laid on a floor, and that only works if the ground stays quiet, which is why cream and beige carry it. Bamboo viscose does the other half of the job: it holds a low sheen where wool goes matt, and in a field this pale that half-tone of difference is most of what the eye has to work with. Woven by hand in India over cotton, at the density the Aren series is built for.

02How many centimeters, which room

Ten square meters is a salon floor or a long dining room, with the table and every chair standing on the rug rather than half off it. A drawing this faint has less contrast left to lose, so the piece will look older sooner in strong sun; and cream at this size is a large pale surface to keep.
