02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Viscose blend

The bright surface of viscose reflects light and changes with the kind of light. The same rug, two colors at two hours.

02

Modern pattern

Modern pattern; the motif edges sit on the order of the warp, so they come out sharp. The ground is beige, cream.

03

5-size series

Woven in 5 sizes, from 80 × 150 cm to 200 × 300 cm. The most chosen sizes are living-room and sitting-room sizes.

04

India workshop

This rug is woven in India. Knowing where a rug comes from is not only a matter of curiosity: yarn, dye and weaving habits change from region to region.

Cream Striped Hand-Knotted Wool Rug, Örge Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

The stripes are made of the loops, not of color: a cream hand-knotted rug from the Örge series, knotted thick in India, where the rhythm of the pattern comes from ridges of differing height across an even tone.

01The Wool on the surface

High wool content, a little cotton, viscose in some batches. Five sizes are made; 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") is the one most often taken, and an 80 cm runner reaches 300 cm. There is one of it left. Cream at this weight of yarn does not read as pale — it reads as substantial, because the shadow between the ridges supplies the contrast that the color does not. The effect is rustic and modern at once, and it depends on the light: in raking afternoon sun the stripes stand up sharply, at midday they nearly vanish.

02Where it is laid

Against oak, walnut or any floor where natural material is the theme, it completes the room rather than decorating it. Minimal and Scandinavian rooms are what it is usually bought for. Every knot is tied by hand by weavers in India, and the density of that work is what you feel walking across it. Two limits are worth stating. Crumbs and grit find their way between the thick loops, so it is not the rug for a kitchen in daily use.

03From ground to pile

And the wool content is high enough that Halıcızade steers anyone with respiratory sensitivity away from it — a pile of this weight holds lint and dust, which is also why vacuuming it clears the air of the room around it. Run the vacuum over it with the rotating brush switched off, and the loops will keep their shape for years longer. Hand-knotted in India, thick loops tied one at a time. Predominantly wool, with a little cotton and viscose in some batches. Stripes formed by ridges of differing height rather than by contrasting color. Cream throughout, with the shadow between ridges doing the work of contrast. Not recommended for a kitchen in daily use. The house steers people with respiratory sensitivity away from it, because of the wool. Five sizes in all, the largest 200 × 300 cm, with a runner 80 cm wide and 300 cm long. No rotating brush on the vacuum; a rug washer for anything deeper. Customers describe wanting to lie down on it, which is not a specification and is the most consistent thing anyone says about the Örge series.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
