Authentic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a blue, colorful ground.
Woven in 4 sizes, from 60 × 90 cm to 150 × 217 cm, and the price is built on the same square-meter calculation in every size. The room decides the size, not the budget.
This rug is woven in India. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

Nothing in this listing is large. The four sizes begin at a 60 × 90 cm (2'0" × 2'11") mat and stop at 150 × 217 cm (4'11" × 7'1"). All four carry the same shawl pattern in 100% wool on a deep blue ground, loom-woven in India with every fringe tied by hand. Shawl patterns come off woven cloth rather than off rugs, which is why the drawing is finer than an Anatolian village pattern and why the color count is so high — reds, ochres, greens and creams packed into a field that still reads as blue from across a room.
In a single-toned space it works as contrast and nothing else. In a room already carrying several colors it stops being a highlight and starts being the thing that ties them together, which is the more useful of its two jobs. The loom does the structure and a person does the rest; the fringes at both ends are knotted individually.
The wool is undiluted, with no cotton or synthetic in the pile, and it behaves the way undiluted wool does: it takes a footprint and loses it again, it holds color for decades and it sheds a little for the first month.
Sizes this small go beside a bed, inside a door, or in a child's room, which is where most of them end up. Loom-woven in India, with the fringes tied by hand one at a time. 100% wool pile — no cotton and no synthetic in the surface. Shawl pattern in red, ochre, green and cream on a deep blue ground. Four sizes: 60 × 90, 89 × 125, 122 × 180 and 150 × 217 cm. New wool sheds lightly for the first weeks and then stops. Deal with spills while they are still wet; the deep cleaning is a professional job. A rug this size ends up beside a bed, and a pattern this busy is a strange and good thing to put a bare foot on first thing in the morning.
A long look at the surface, the edge finish and the sizes.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
