02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool weave

Wool is naturally hard to ignite; an ember landing on it goes out by itself without catching flame. That is why wool is chosen in front of a fireplace.

02

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern. The motif is not printed on the surface; it is built as the rug is woven. The ground is colorful, orange.

03

3 sizes, the same square-meter price

Woven in 3 sizes, from 60 × 90 cm to 197 × 279 cm. There is no difference that makes the small size cheap and the large size expensive; the calculation uses the same square-meter rate in every size.

04

India weave

This rug is woven in India and carries the weaving tradition of that region. The place of production is stated openly on the spec sheet.

Orange Shawl-Pattern Loom-Woven Wool Rug, Karnaval Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

The shawl drawing is the one that traveled — the repeating teardrop figure that came off Kashmir shawls and that English ended up naming after Paisley, the Scottish town that copied them — and here it is worked in wool over an orange ground, loom-woven in India, in three sizes: 60 × 90 cm (2' × 2'11"), 150 × 217 cm (4'11" × 7'1") and 197 × 279 cm (6'6" × 9'2"). Orange asks a lot of a floor.

01After the color

This one earns it by staying warm rather than bright, nearer the color of a clay tile than of a signal. The shawl figures repeat across the field in a way that is ethnic in origin and modern in effect, because the repetition is regular and the ground is left visible between them. In a room of one flat tone it becomes the depth the room does not otherwise have. Where a scheme already has orange or its neighbors in it, the rug reinforces rather than competes.

02From the hand of the weaver

It sits against natural wood, against white, and — surprisingly — against black. Weavers in India work the wool on the loom, and the fringes at each end are tied by hand once the rug comes off it.

03The Wool on the surface

Wool is what gives the pile its resilience and the color its depth; a synthetic yarn would take this orange much brighter and much flatter. Keeping it is simple: vacuum it on a regular schedule, which is most of what the color needs to stay where it is.

04Knot by knot, by hand

Two remain. Loom-woven in India, with the fringes tied by hand afterward. Wool pile; the depth of the orange comes from the fiber taking dye unevenly. A repeating shawl figure — what English calls paisley — over an orange ground. Three sizes: 60 × 90, 150 × 217 and 197 × 279 cm. Reads as a single focal object in a room of flat color. Regular vacuuming is what keeps the orange from going dull. Two pieces in stock. It is the rug that gets bought for a child's room and ends up in the living room within a year.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
