Lyocell takes its light from the flat cross-section of the fiber, not from a treatment applied afterward. It stays after a professional cleaning.

The story of this rug

Three stars, set in a row down the middle, and everything else arranged to hold them still: a cream Mamluk-pattern rug of the Zade Series, 200 × 290 cm (6'7" × 9'6"), loom-woven in Kütahya in Tencel® over cotton.

01Which tone on the ground

Silver and mink move under the cream. Mamluk drawing is star geometry, and it has held a place in the literature of rugs for centuries. The center here is the strongest thing on the field — a triple star form with real structural weight — and the thin borders and small motifs ringing it exist to take some of that weight back off, so the composition ends up balanced rather than dominant. Cream is the ground, but silver and mink sit inside it and seem to change places according to which side the light arrives from.

02The Silk on the surface

The tree-of-life figure worked into the border is this house's own mark. Tencel® gives a silk-like brightness and cotton gives a matt, dry finish, and because both are present the surface reads differently at nine in the morning than it does at six in the evening.

03Knot by knot, by hand

Weaving is on a Kütahya loom where machine work and hand work meet; the fringes are added last, braided singly by women living around the loom. It was designed for rooms with wooden furniture and cream upholstery, and it will look underpowered in a room built on strong color. Vacuum along the pile; leave washing to a specialist. A Kütahya loom builds the structure; the finish and the fringes are set by hand. Tencel® pile over cotton — one fiber bright, the other matt. Size: 200 × 290 cm (6'7" × 9'6") — no other dimension is woven. A three-star Mamluk center, framed by narrow borders that quiet it down. Cream over silver and mink undertones that shift with the light. A tree-of-life figure marks the border as this house's design. Made for wood furniture and cream fabric; wrong in a high-color room. Its weave number is recorded on the rug itself. Star geometry has outlasted the empire that drew it, and this is a workable domestic version of the argument.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
