Four things that set this rug apart

Tencel yarn

Lyocell takes up moisture quickly and releases it quickly, which is why it feels cool to the hand. It does not give the warmth wool gives.

Classic motif

Classic, Authentic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a red, blue ground.

Türkiye loom

This rug is woven in Türkiye. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

The story of this rug

Blue Mamluk-Pattern Loom-Woven Tencel Rug, Zade Series — a calm deep blue ground with a star at the center opening outward in even rings, red and earth tones moving through the blue, woven on Kütahya looms in Tencel® over cotton, and it measures 200 × 290 cm (6'7" × 9'6"). Mamluk rugs were woven in Cairo from the late fifteenth century into the sixteenth, and their signature is exactly this: a central star built out of concentric geometry rather than out of flowers, repeating outward until it meets the border.

01The tone of the ground

Here the geometry is layered, so it takes a second look to see how the rings are constructed, and the red and rust threaded through the blue keep the whole thing from going cold. Blue reads differently with the hour — sharper at midday, softer under lamps — and the pattern comes forward from one angle and recedes from another.

02The mark of slow weaving

In front of a light-colored sofa it is the whole view. The looms are in Kütahya; machine knots carry the field and hands do the finishing. The house calls that loom weaving rather than hand-knotting, which is the correct word.

03How it feels underfoot

Tencel® over a cotton foundation gives it a soft, slightly cool hand and the sheen that makes the blue move. After weaving, the fringes are knotted individually by women in the surrounding villages.

04To make it last

The pile is low, so it sheds little and vacuums quickly. A rug cleaner, not a washing machine. Loom-woven in Kütahya: Tencel® pile on a cotton foundation. A Mamluk star medallion, built from concentric geometry rather than florals. A deep blue field with red and earth tones running through it. 200 × 290 cm (6'7" × 9'6") — sized for a sitting room or a dining table. The surface shifts between bright and matt with the light. Fringes are knotted one at a time after the rug leaves the loom. Marked with the Halıcızade tree of life. Professional washing. Mamluk drawing was made to be read from a cushion on the floor, and it still rewards that.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
