Red Anatolian Hand-Knotted Wool Karapınar Village Rug

Karapınar is a district of Konya, and this is a village weaving from it — hand-knotted wool, red, 151 × 224 cm (4'11" × 7'4"). The trade calls it sandık eskisi, meaning the years went by folded in a chest instead of under feet, so it reaches the floor with most of its pile unwalked.

01The geography of the weave

02Knot by knot, by hand
