The story of this rug

Kütahya, in western Anatolia, is where this was made — a town better known for its tiles than for its looms, and where the Heritage rugs are woven by putting semi-industrial precision and hand finishing side by side.

01The Wool on the surface

A loom-woven wool rug: blue drawing scattered over a cream field, New Zealand wool in the surface, viscose in the motifs, cotton in the foundation. Half the pattern is stated and half is withheld.

02The origin of the pattern

Some motifs are drawn at full strength, others fade almost into the cream, and they are distributed without a repeating grid, so the surface looks composed rather than printed. There is a lot of empty ground and that is the point — the rug leaves room for the eye the way a sparsely hung wall does.

03The mark of slow weaving

Details you did not see on the first day keep arriving for a month. Knot density is high for a loom-woven piece, which is why the surface has some of the weight of a knotted rug in the hand.

04How it feels underfoot

Wool takes the wear, cotton holds the shape underneath, and the viscose does nothing structural at all — it is there because it reflects. Pale ground and low pile together mean this rug shows a crumb and hides a footprint, the opposite of most.

05From the hand of the weaver

Vacuum it often, which is easy, and send it out for washing rather than trying it at home. Loom-woven in Kütahya, western Anatolia, with hand finishing. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
