Cream Striped Handwoven Wool Cushion Covers, Set of Two
Your rug is dispatched from Ankara and reaches you in 5-7 business days. Shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid up front, so nothing is collected at your door. Each rug is packed by hand to arrive exactly as it left the showroom.
Stripes, and nothing else in the way of drawing: two cream wool cushion covers woven by hand in Türkiye, 38 by 39 centimeters apiece (1'3" × 1'3"), banded across the face. These are covers, not finished cushions, and the house ships them in pairs.
A stripe is what a loom does when the weaver changes the weft and keeps going, which makes it the most natural ornament a woven object can carry and the only one that costs nothing in labor. It also does something a figure cannot: bands run the eye across the cover, so a square looks wider than it is, and two of them side by side on a long sofa read as a rhythm rather than as a repeat. The tones stay inside the cream range, so the banding is legible at arm's length and dissolves from the far side of the room.
Wool, handwoven in Türkiye, flat rather than piled. Stripes make the one honest fault of a hand loom visible: where the weaver stopped for the day, the band can shift a millimeter or two out of true, and on a banded face that shows more than it would on a scattered one. Every one of these has it somewhere. Professional cleaning keeps the bands from bleeding into one another, which is what happens when wool dyed in separate lots meets hot water.
- Handwoven in wool in Türkiye, flat with no pile.
- A pair of covers, 38 × 39 cm (1'3" × 1'3").
- Banded across the face in tones held inside the cream range.
- Bands widen a square cushion to the eye.
- Small shifts in the banding mark where the loom stopped and started.
- Covers only; no inserts.
- Professional cleaning; hot water moves dye between bands.
Stripes are the ornament people get tired of last, which is an argument that has nothing to do with how they look.

There is no such thing as leaving here unhappy. I vouch for very few things in this country, but my trust in Halıcızade is complete.
In the end the rug that made my home its best self was mine. The hour I spent in the store was the most enjoyable shopping I have done.
I went after reading the reviews online. The reviews understate it — attention and knowledge, both at once.
The right place: I bought a rug in ten minutes, on my first visit. I only had to say what I was looking for.
