The story of this rug

A star sits at the middle of a red field, and everything else on this rug is arranged around it: geometric bands and plant forms opening outward in even rings, drawn in navy, turquoise and mustard yellow.

01From the hand of the weaver

The surface is wool throughout, loom-woven, and the piece measures 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"); there is a 170 × 240 cm version as well. Red is doing the heat here and navy is doing the depth, and between them the turquoise and the mustard supply the beat — the two small colors you notice last and then cannot stop finding.

02Where the Mamluk star comes from

The star at the center belongs to the Mamluk tradition, where the composition is built out from a single figure rather than laid along an axis, and the effect at this size is that the rug organizes a room from its middle outward.

03The tone of the ground

Walk around it and the relationship between the colors keeps changing, because each of the four sides presents the geometry at a different angle. It is not a quiet floor and it was never meant to be one. The pile is wool and nothing but wool, worked on the loom where hand labor and machine knotting meet in the same piece, and the fringes are knotted afterwards by hand, one at a time.

04From ground to pile

Wool at this density gives a firm, warm surface that takes a vacuum easily and holds its shape under furniture. One caution, plainly: the wool content is high, and we do not recommend it to anyone in the household with a known sensitivity to wool. Loom-woven from 100% wool yarns, with the fringes knotted individually by hand. A central star in the Mamluk manner, ringed by geometric and plant motifs. Red ground with navy, turquoise and mustard. Medium thickness, densely woven, firm under furniture. 200 × 300 cm, with a 170 × 240 cm size also made. High wool content: not recommended where there is a sensitivity to wool. Regular vacuuming, and professional washing when it needs more. Rugs like this were made to be the brightest thing in a dim room, and they still do that job better than any lamp.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
