Lyocell surface

Tencel is a brand name; the fiber itself is called lyocell and is made from wood cellulose. It gives the surface a shine close to silk.

Modern pattern

Modern, Tribal pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads white, cream.

The story of this rug

This one is off-white, and that is worth weighing before anything else: the Off-White Ethnic-Pattern Loom-Woven Rug from the Zara series is the wrong rug for a kitchen and the right one for a bedroom.

01The origin of the pattern

Soft ethnic figures on a broken-white ground, cotton and Tencel® worked together, woven in Oushak; the sizes begin at 80 × 140 cm (2'7" × 4'7"). The figures are modern in their spacing and traditional in their shape, set in tones only a step or two from the ground itself, so the pattern stays legible without being loud.

02Where it is laid

What a ground this pale actually does is return light: in a living room facing away from the sun, or in a study with one small window, it lifts the entire floor. Beside cream and white furniture it merges; beside dark wood it becomes the brightest thing in the room. Cotton and Tencel® are worked together here, and the house calls the construction hybrid: a loom does the repeating work and the finishing is where the hands come in.

03The mark of slow weaving

The twisting and knotting of the fringes happens after the rug leaves the loom, by women in Oushak. A pale rug asks for the vacuum more often than a dark one, and for a professional wash sooner. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
