01When you walk in

It is made as a 200 cm circle and a 160 cm one — 6'7" and 5'3" across. A circle has no corners, and in a room of straight lines that matters more than it sounds: the hard edges of a sofa and a low table stop competing the moment something round goes underneath them.

02Reading the motif

This blue is at the quiet end of blue rather than the saturated end, so the scattered motifs read as marks on water. Set in front of white or gray furniture it is the only color in the arrangement, which is the arrangement it was drawn for. Loom-woven puts the structure onto a machine-guided loom and leaves the ends to people: once a piece comes off the frame, every fringe is worked and tied on its own, largely by women in the Oushak workshops.

03What Wool does

The yarn contains Tencel®, spun out of wood pulp, which gives the surface a light fluid gloss and a certain slip underfoot. Nothing in it is wool, worth knowing if what you are after is the density wool gives.

04At the loom in in Anatolia

Have it professionally washed; that is the whole of the maintenance. Loom-woven in Oushak, in workshops where most of the labor is women's. Tencel®-containing yarn, wool-free. Two diameters are made, 160 cm and 200 cm. Authentic Anatolian motifs scattered across a quiet blue ground. Each fringe worked and tied individually once the weaving comes off the frame. Softens the geometry of a room built out of rectangles. A rug washer, not a washing machine. It is the honest middle of the catalog: the look of a knotted rug at a price knotting cannot reach, and the house says as much rather than implying otherwise.
