The story of this rug

In a room that gets little daylight, cream does what a lamp cannot, and this is a round cream rug for exactly that problem: loom-woven at Oushak from Tencel® over a cotton ground, with traditional Anatolian motifs drawn across it, 200 cm across (6'7"), or 160 cm (5'3") where the space is tighter.

01A line from the archive

One left. The motifs are worked a shade or two off the ground rather than in contrast, so the drawing is legible without becoming the subject; from the doorway it reads as texture and from a chair it resolves into pattern.

02Where it sits in the house

Being circular, it has no corners to line up with a wall, which is what makes it useful in an entrance, a hallway or a bedroom, and what lets it sit in the middle of a room full of straight lines and soften them.

03From the hand of the weaver

Cream also makes a space read larger than it is, and among furniture in strong colors it acts as the neutral that lets the rest of the palette agree with itself. Zara is made on the looms at Oushak, where women who have been weaving for years do the finishing; the fringes are worked by hand, which is what keeps them durable and keeps the rug from looking mass-produced.

04The Tencel on the surface

Tencel® is a plant-based fiber with a soft hand and a visible gloss, and the cotton ground underneath keeps lint down. Day to day it needs very little; when it needs more than that, it goes to a rug washer, and a cream rug will reach that point sooner than a dark one. Loom-woven at Oushak, Türkiye, with fringes finished by hand. Tencel® over a cotton ground. Traditional Anatolian motifs on cream, drawn close in tone to the ground. Round: 160 and 200 cm across. Cream makes a low-light room read brighter and a small room read larger. Low lint from the cotton ground; easy day-to-day care. A rug washer for a deep clean, which a cream rug will want sooner than a dark one. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
