Flowers at low contrast on mink, Tencel® over cotton

The lyocell fiber is straight and smooth and breaks light by direction, the way silk does. The same rug reads in two colors from two sides.
Tribal pattern; the motif edges sit on the order of the warp, so they come out sharp. The ground is taupe, beige, cream.
Woven in 3 sizes, from 130 × 190 cm to 200 × 300 cm. Whichever size you choose the square-meter rate does not change; you compare with the empty floor of your room, not with the price tag.
This rug is woven in Türkiye. Knowing where a rug comes from is not only a matter of curiosity: yarn, dye and weaving habits change from region to region.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.
Flowers at low contrast on mink, Tencel® over cotton
The series is named after a mountain village at Kemaliye, in Erzincan province. The rug is loom-woven in Türkiye in mink — vizon in Turkish, the gray-brown lying between taupe and outright brown — with a floral drawing across it, and the yarn is Tencel® with a cotton foundation and no wool at all.
Two sizes are made: 130 × 190 cm, which is 4'3" × 6'3", and the larger 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10") — six square meters at the top of that range. Mink is the most forgiving ground color in this catalog, and it earns that by sitting exactly between the warm and cool halves of a neutral scheme.
Against oak and linen it reads warm; against gray plaster and black metal it reads cool; in neither case does it fight what is already in the room. A floral drawing on that ground behaves differently from the same drawing on cream or navy, because the contrast is low — the flowers emerge as the light rakes across them and go quiet again when it flattens. Tencel® is a cellulose fiber produced under Lenzing license, and it takes light the way silk does rather than the way wool does, which is why a low-contrast pattern still registers on this surface.
Halıcızade holds the Lenzing license for it, and the mark belongs on the name. Loom-woven, in this house's usage, means a mechanically built structure finished off by hand. There is no wool in this rug, which some buyers are looking for and others are not — a lustrous cellulose pile shows footmarks more readily than a matt woolen one, and they brush out.
Professional cleaning is the only kind to use on it. Loom-woven in Türkiye: machine-laid structure, hand finishing. Tencel® pile on a cotton foundation; no wool in the composition. Floral drawing on a mink ground, at low contrast by design. The cellulose fiber reflects light, so the pattern comes and goes with the angle. Two sizes — 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") and 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). A lustrous pile takes footmarks; brushing the pile back clears them. Professional cleaning only. This suits a room that wants pattern without being told about it from the doorway. This rug belongs to the Günyolu Series.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
