The story of this rug

It looks less like a rug than like a heavy wool sweater laid on the floor, and that is the effect the Örge series is after. Gray, geometric, hand-knotted in India, mostly wool with cotton and a trace of viscose, in five sizes: a 80 × 150 cm mat at 2'7" × 4'11", a 200 × 300 cm room rug at 6'7" × 9'10", and three between them. The knots are large and visible, so the surface has ridges you can feel through a sock, and the geometric drawing is worked in the same gray family rather than in contrast — it organizes the rug without decorating it.

01Where it sits in the house

That suits a rustic room and it suits a Scandinavian one, and it does something particular next to natural wood: it stops pale timber floors from looking thin. Everything about it is thick — the yarn, the knot, the hand of it. Indian weavers tie every knot by hand, and the yarn is predominantly wool, with a little cotton and, in some pieces, a trace of viscose. Two things are worth saying before you buy it.

02From the hand of the weaver

It is not recommended for a busy kitchen, because crumbs work down between the knots and stay there. And the high wool content means the house does not suggest it for anyone with respiratory sensitivity.

03The Wool on the surface

It does hold lint and dust, which means a vacuum takes dust out of the room along with the rug; use a head without a beater brush and the pile will last far longer. Hand-knotted in India, knot by knot. Predominantly wool, with cotton and a trace of viscose in the blend. Large visible knots and a thick, slightly rough surface. Geometric drawing in gray on gray, suited to minimal and Scandinavian rooms. Not recommended for kitchens: crumbs collect between the knots. Not suggested for anyone with respiratory sensitivity, given the wool content. Five sizes, 80 × 150 cm through 200 × 300 cm, plus an 80 × 300 cm runner. Vacuum with a brushless head; professional washing for a deep clean. It is one of the few rugs people put a hand on before they put a foot on it.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
