The story of this rug

Cream Medallion Loom-Woven Tencel Rug, Zade Series — a pale cream field with one central medallion drawn in silver-gray and light beige, so lightly that it reads as shadow rather than as pattern. Tencel® and cotton, woven on looms in Kütahya, measuring 200 × 290 cm (6'7" × 9'6"). Its motif is Bakhtiari, one of the oldest layouts in Persian weaving, redrawn and recolored for this house.

01Which tone on the ground

Recoloring is the whole of the work here: a Bakhtiari is usually saturated and compartmented, and stripping it back to cream and silver leaves the structure standing while the noise goes. From a few paces the piece is a plain light floor.

02Where the Medallion comes from

Nearer, the medallion and the small figures around it come up out of the ground like a watermark. It belongs in rooms already committed to white, cream and gray, where a strong rug would be an intrusion. Tencel® pile over cotton.

03Knot by knot, by hand

The looms are in Kütahya, and the technique is the middle road between the two things buyers usually compare — tighter than a machine-made rug, quicker than a knotted one, with the hand work confined to the finish. The fringes are braided individually by women in the region once the rug is off the loom.

04Color that shifts through the day

A cream field this pale will show what happens on it, and that is worth saying before rather than after. Everyday care is a vacuum; anything beyond that goes out. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
