The story of this rug

A red loom-woven Tencel® rug from the Zade Series in the vintage drawing: a strong red field with a medallion at the center opening outward in waves, pale blue and light beige dropped in among the red, 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3"), Tencel® with cotton, woven on a Kütahya loom and finished by hand. The ground is drawn to look as if decades of feet had already crossed it: faded in places, uneven in others, carrying what looks like the history of a rug it never had.

01Where the Medallion comes from

Against that, the medallion is the one crisp thing, and it radiates rather than sits. Pale blue and light beige are scattered through the red in small amounts, and they are what keep a red rug from becoming tiring to be in a room with. As the light changes the surface moves between matt and bright.

02What the yarn is

In the border, worked in among the frame, is the tree of life that marks the piece as this house's design. Tencel® is silky and cotton is dry and firm, and putting them together gives a rug you can walk on comfortably that still has the handle of a classical one.

03The mark of slow weaving

Kütahya is where the loom is, and the fringes are braided afterward by women in the district, one rug at a time. There is little pile on it and it sheds almost nothing. Red is a decision rather than a default — it will drive the room, and in a space that already has a strong color in it the two will fight.

04After the color

Spot care at home if you must; the wash is professional. Loom-woven in Kütahya: the machine lays the ground, a person finishes it. Tencel® and cotton — one fiber silky, the other dry and firm. 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") — an entrance, a bedroom, a room with no coffee table in it. A radiating central medallion on a ground drawn to look worn. Pale blue and light beige scattered through the red to steady it. In the frame border sits the tree of life this house uses as its mark. Short pile, low shedding, and quick to keep clean. Red leads a room; it will not share one with another strong color. It goes best where the walls are doing nothing and the rug is allowed to be the event.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
