Lyocell pile holds direction; laid one way it opens, laid the other it closes. The behavior is familiar from velvet.
Modern pattern. The motif is not printed on the surface; it is built as the rug is woven. The ground is green.
This rug is woven in Türkiye and carries the weaving tradition of that region. The place of production is stated openly on the spec sheet.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Blot a spill with a dry cloth instead of rubbing it; rubbing spreads the stain and mats the pile.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.
Sage green washed with terracotta, off the Kütahya looms
Tencel® is lyocell, spun from wood pulp, and here it is the entire pile: Green Abstract Loom-Woven Tencel Rug, Zima Series — sage green shading into earth and terracotta around one central geometric form, on a cotton foundation, sized 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10") and woven in Kütahya and in Uşak. The green is at the sage end of green, nearer a dried leaf than a fresh one, and the terracotta and earth tones come and go across it in transitions rather than at edges.
Nothing in the drawing is high in contrast. The central form does the doorway work the series is built on, plainly, with no ornament around it, and the textural passes across the field suggest tracks left behind by something that has already gone through.
Against light oak or walnut, stone surfaces and linen it holds a room together instead of competing with it. Zima was made for Halıcızade and for nowhere else, and this is one of the models that carries the idea most quietly.
Lyocell has a mild shine, so the greens move by half a tone between morning and evening without ever becoming glossy. Weaving happens in western Türkiye, where machine knotting and hand finishing go into a single rug, which is the honest description of what it is.
Cotton runs underneath as the foundation. The tree-of-life figure this house marks with is worked into every piece. Tencel® pile on cotton, with no wool content. Sage green with earth and terracotta transitions, and one central geometric form. Textural passes across the field, drawn as traces rather than as pattern. Loom-woven in Kütahya and Uşak: machine knots, hand finishing. Room size, 200 × 300 cm, for a sitting room, a reading corner or an office floor. Marked with the tree-of-life figure this house uses. Professional washing. Green is the hardest floor color to get right, and this one gets it right by refusing to be a bright one.
A long look at the surface, the edge finish and the sizes.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
