The story of this rug

The red is in the middle and the navy is around it, which is the reverse of the way most rugs handle a strong color. This is a loom-woven wool rug from the Zima series, a wool surface over cotton, made in Kütahya, with a tree of life at the edge, and its dimensions are 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). Contained that way, the red reads as depth rather than as noise. Navy and the darker tones ring it and push it back, and the composition gains a center the eye returns to instead of a surface it merely scans.

The series takes its drawing from doorways, the ones a life passes through and the ones that shut, and renders them as flat geometry with no picture in them. It will change the temperature of a classical sitting room and give a modern office something to be organized around. Wool and cotton, in the arrangement the house uses throughout Zima: wool for the surface you walk on, cotton for the frame that keeps the rug true.

01What Wool does

The matt finish follows from the wool and is the reason the strong colors stay solid rather than glassy. Kütahya does the weaving, on mechanical looms, and the ends are finished afterwards in the surrounding villages, fringe by fringe.

02Color, by the light

The tree of life in the border stands for continuity, and it is also how you know where a Zima came from. Wool surface over a cotton foundation, matt and dense. A field of bright red enclosed by navy and darker tones. Loom-woven in Kütahya on mechanical looms. Fringes finished by hand in the district after the rug leaves the loom. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
