The story of this rug

Closer to a wall that has been painted and repainted than to a pattern: soft beige spread over 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"); darker passages gather like shadow in some places and thin out to nothing in others.

01Coming off the loom

Beige Abstract Loom-Woven Tencel Rug, Zima Series — Tencel® on cotton, made in Kütahya and Uşak. The design came out of the idea of a doorway, opened or closed and in either case changing whoever passes through it, and what is left on the rug is the trace rather than the door.

02Which tone on the ground

From standing height it is a plain beige floor. Crouch to it and the transitions appear, tonal rather than linear, with no edge you could put a finger on. That makes it the rare patterned rug that will sit under a patterned sofa without the two of them arguing.

03The Tencel on the surface

On natural oak it goes warm; against cool gray plaster it holds its own line. Cotton foundation, Tencel® surface. Tencel® is regenerated from wood pulp and holds dye evenly, which is why the beige can shade this gradually without banding.

04Knot by knot, by hand

The looms stand in Kütahya and Uşak and tie the knots themselves; the finishing is done by hand, largely by women. Between washes a vacuum is enough; when it needs more, it needs a rug cleaner. Loom-woven in Kütahya and Uşak: Tencel® over a cotton foundation. Beige throughout, with soft tonal shifts instead of a drawn pattern. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10") — a sitting-room or dining-room size. Tencel® takes dye evenly, which is what lets the shading run without banding. Designed in-house and woven for Halıcızade only. Professional washing. You will stop seeing it inside a week, and notice the floor the day it goes out to be cleaned.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
