The story of this rug
The unusual thing here is the range: this handwoven Maison series rug is made from 170 × 238 cm (5'7" × 7'10") up to 309 × 432 cm (10'2" × 14'2"), which is a size very few hand-weaving workshops will still take on.
01What the yarn is
Gray ground, an abstract figure in gold-yellow, silver, chrome and copper, a wool pile carrying viscose and bamboo viscose, all over cotton warps, woven in India. Gray is the reason the metallic tones behave.
02Color that shifts through the day
On a white ground the same yellows would look brash; against gray they sit down and only the copper stays warm. The figure is loose and unrepeating, so a large piece never shows the seam-like rhythm that a repeated cartoon produces at scale. Beside anthracite upholstery the rug reads as the lighter element in the room, which is the opposite of what most gray rugs do. A 309 × 432 cm rug is close to fourteen feet long and needs two people and a clear afternoon to lay flat.
03How it feels underfoot
Handwoven in India on cotton, with wool taking the traffic and the cellulosic yarns taking the light. The larger the piece the more it is worth having a professional cleaner collect and return it, since a rug this size cannot be handled in a domestic bathroom under any circumstances. The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
