The story of this rug
At 207 × 293 cm (6'9" × 9'7") this is a dining-room rug first and a living-room rug second: a Retro Series vintage-pattern piece in gray with gold running through it, wool knotted on a cotton warp in Afghanistan.
01What it sits well with
One piece. Six square meters is where a rug stops being decoration and becomes the plan of the room. A table and six chairs sit inside these dimensions with the chairs still on the rug when they are pushed back, which is the only test that matters for a dining floor.
02The origin of the pattern
The pattern is Oushak, centuries in use, brought forward by modern dyeing into gray, and the gold inside it is what stops gray from being cold. Turn a light on and the surface picks up a sheen from one angle and holds a deep matt from the other. The construction is thin and unusually strong: wool worked over a cotton warp, tied with the double knot at a high knot density, with a trace of recycled synthetic yarn in the skeleton for strength, which is what buys the years.
03When you touch it
Special washing and dyeing processes give the pile its softness and its shine, and both are done to every rug in the series rather than to this one alone. It handles offices and reception rooms as easily as houses, and it sits with classical and modern furniture without arguing with either.

Washing is best left to a specialist workshop. Handwoven in Afghanistan, double knot, high knot density. Wool pile over a cotton warp — thin in the hand, hard-wearing underfoot. A trace of recycled synthetic yarn in the skeleton, for strength. Gray field with gold coming through the Oushak motifs. Bright from one angle, matt and deep from the other. Which size fits your room?
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
