The story of this rug
Baş Başa means being alone with something: with yourself, with your own spirit, with the Creator. The prayer rug named for it is plain red, Tencel® and cotton, loom-woven in Anatolia, 80 × 130 cm (2'7" × 4'3"). Its only drawing is one small mark where the forehead lands in prostration. Everything else has been taken out.
01The origin of the pattern
There is no mihrab arch, no border of hanging lamps, no field of flowers to read while you are meant to be doing something else — only a warm red ground, one long minimal line running the length of the surface, and the single point at the head of it.
02From ground to pile
The red is deep rather than bright, and under lamplight it settles instead of glowing. Tencel® and cotton give the surface a softness you notice at the first touch of a hand or a knee, which counts for more here than it would on a floor.
03Coming off the loom
It is woven on Anatolian looms with machine and hand work together, and the fringe at each end is finished by hand in the villages nearby. Being plain, it shows everything, and a rug this simple asks to be shaken out often. It folds to book size and travels. Loom-woven in Anatolia: machine structure, hand finishing. Tencel® and cotton, with no wool in the piece. A plain red ground with one line and a single point at the head. The fringe at each end is hand-knotted locally. 80 × 130 cm (2'7" × 4'3") — one person, and it folds small. Baş Başa: alone with oneself, one's spirit and the Creator. Professional washing. Which size fits your room?
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
Living room
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
Dining room
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Bedroom
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Hallway · runner
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?
For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.
Can I return it if I do not like it?
Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.
Will the color match what I see on screen?
Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.
Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
