Gray Plain Loom-Woven Viscose Rug

Depending on where you stand, the same plain surface reads as a light gray or a dark one, and nothing has been woven into it to produce that — it is 100% viscose off an Indian loom, 4,500 g/m² of it, with a pile 12 mm deep, and the whole effect is the pile catching light from one direction and swallowing it from the other. Gray is the color where this trick is most useful, because a gray that never moves is the dullest thing you can put on a floor.

Beside oak it warms a little and stops looking industrial. Machine knotting lays the ground and hand finishing closes it, which is what loom-woven means. At 4,500 g/m² there is real weight in it, and twelve millimeters of viscose underfoot gives a softness wool never quite reaches.

The trade-off is honest and worth repeating: a sheen this strong records footmarks, so a household that wants an unmarked floor should choose the wool blend instead.
