The story of this rug
Closer to unbleached linen than to cream: the beige Urkum Series accent rug is all wool, 60 × 90 cm (2'0" × 2'11"), with small geometric figures worked over a beige ground, fringes dyed several colors at each end, and a loom-woven body made in India. On a pale ground the figures have to carry the whole piece, and here they are drawn small and set well apart — enclosed diamonds, hooked crosses, short bars — with a color count low enough to read as one family of signs rather than as a crowd.
01Coming off the loom
The Gabbeh weaving they come from used symbols the way a household uses shorthand, and the shorthand survived the journey onto a loom. The fringes are the loudest part of this rug and were meant to be. All wool, and thick enough to keep its shape without an underlay. It leaves a mechanical loom in India and is closed by hand at the ends, and that is the entire content of the phrase loom-woven.
02What Wool does
Wool at this density will not suit a house where somebody reacts to it. Beige is also the least forgiving ground for a rug that will sit inside a door, and that is worth settling before it goes there. Loom-woven in India, made for Halıcızade. 100% wool. Small geometric figures on a beige ground, with multicolored fringes. 60 × 90 cm (2'0" × 2'11"). Thick and firm; it lies flat without an underlay. Not recommended where anyone in the house reacts to wool. Professional washing. It will darken slightly where feet land most often, and that is the only calendar it keeps.

Which size fits your room?
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
Living room
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
Dining room
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Bedroom
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Hallway · runner
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can I return it if I do not like it?
Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.
Will the color match what I see on screen?
Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.
Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
