Viscose fiber is soft and leaves a flowing feel under the hand. In rooms where people sit on the floor, this is the feel they are after.
Classic pattern. The motif is built row by row as the weaving advances; it is only seen whole once it comes off the loom. The ground color is copper, mink.
This rug is woven in Türkiye. The place of production is written on the spec sheet; it comes straight from the workshop that wove it, with no reseller chain.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. For everyday care use a head without a beater bar and follow the direction of the pile; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

New Zealand fleece is the fiber, and it decides how this rug behaves: Heritage Series Vintage Copper Loom-Woven Rug, a classical pattern faded down over a mink ground, with copper coming forward through the field and bamboo viscose lighting the finer lines.
Woven in Türkiye, and running to 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") flat. Copper is awkward to place and undemanding once it is placed. Here it has been taken down toward the mink so the two are within a shade of each other, and the pattern emerges by contrast of texture as much as by contrast of color. The classical drawing is all there — a field, a border, corner pieces — but softened as though it had come out of a chest after twenty years rather than off a loom last season. Long-staple fleece is used in this series for one practical reason: short fibers work loose and mat where people turn on their heels, and long ones do not.
The knots are laid down mechanically and the ends, edges and fringes are closed by hand afterward. Copper against warm oak will read almost the same as the wood, which some rooms want and some do not.
Wipe it when something is spilled and have it washed properly once it needs it. New Zealand wool, long in the staple and slow to mat underfoot. Bamboo viscose picks out the finer lines of the drawing. Cotton in the foundation; loom-woven in Türkiye, hand-closed at the edges. Copper over mink, a classical pattern deliberately faded. A room-side format, running to 130 × 190 cm (4'3" × 6'3") flat and no other. Sits close in tone to warm oak, and will not stand out against it. Wipeable; professional washing when it needs more. It is the size that goes beside a bed or under a small table, and the color that stops a plain floor from looking unfinished.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
