Classic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads turquoise, blue, beige.
This rug is made in Türkiye. Writing the place of production onto the spec sheet also makes clear where the price comes from.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Turning the rug a hundred and eighty degrees once a year spreads the load of sunlight and foot traffic evenly across the surface.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

Vintage Patterned Machine-Woven Rug, drawn the way an old photograph prints when the paper has yellowed: a mink ground with the pattern washed into it and turquoise surfacing along the lines that survived.
Wool, cotton and viscose. Machine-woven in Türkiye, sitting 160 × 230 cm (5'3" × 7'7") square and nothing larger. Turquoise is the whole argument for this rug. It is a rare color in Anatolian weaving and a common one in the tiles that came out of the same region, and against mink it does something no warm color does — it cools the floor rather than warming it.
The vintage treatment keeps the drawing from reading as new, so the rug can sit under modern furniture without looking like a reproduction of an old one. Machine weaving is what makes a rug repeatable, even and quick, and it is also the reason this one is a floor covering and not an object with a history.
The mix here is wool with cotton and viscose: the wool gives body, the cotton is in the structure, the viscose is the shine along the turquoise. A machine-woven pile of this height sheds very little and vacuums flat. There is no hand knotting anywhere in it, and the house does not present it as if there were. Machine-woven in Türkiye, in a single size. Wool with cotton and viscose in the mix. Turquoise pattern faded into a mink ground. Cools a room rather than warming it, unlike most vintage palettes. Low shedding; vacuums flat. One size only, sitting 160 × 230 cm (5'3" × 7'7") square, which fits in front of a sofa. Professional washing. Turquoise came into Anatolian tile long before it came into Anatolian rugs, and on a floor it still looks slightly like a borrowing.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
