The story of this rug

Its blue is the one a sky turns after rain, clear rather than deep, and cream Oushak motifs run the length of the border above it. A Mahal Series wool rug, 212 × 284 cm (6'11" × 9'4"), handwoven in Pakistan on a cotton foundation with hand-dyed yarn.

01After the color

One piece only. Where a darker blue would close a room, this one opens it. The motifs along the border are drawn with fine curves rather than angles, so the pattern moves in a continuous line instead of stopping and starting, and the cream in them keeps the whole surface light. Because the yarn was dyed by hand, blue and cream both arrive in several tones, and the transitions between them are gradual enough that you notice them only when the sun crosses the floor.

02From the hand of the weaver

Pastel throughout, and warm despite it. Master weavers in Pakistan built it on the double knot, the sturdier of the two knots in common use, tied around two warps. Wool covers the entire surface; the skeleton is cotton, and a small synthetic component is included for long life.

03Which furniture, which room

The finish is firm rather than plush — a rug for a room in daily use, not a sinking-in rug — and firm surfaces are the easy ones to keep clean. At 212 × 284 cm it works in a medium or large sitting room without crowding it.

Deep cleaning is professional work. Handwoven in Pakistan, double knot, wool pile on a cotton skeleton. The foundation carries a minor synthetic component for longevity. Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
