The story of this rug

Inner Reflection is the name Studio Potato gave this design, and the drawing is abstract in the strict sense — no motif family, no border, nothing inherited from a region. It is a handwoven wool kilim, flat-woven in Türkiye with no pile at all, and it starts at 80 × 140 cm, or 2'7" by 4'7", running through five sizes up to a full sitting-room piece. This is a multicolored piece rather than a tonal one, and it was never meant to recede.

01Knot by knot, by hand

On a flatweave the pattern is the weave itself, which means there is no pile to soften an edge and every shape has to be built out of the way the weft turns. Both faces are finished, so the kilim can be turned over when one side has had a season of sun on it, and it lies thin enough to go under a door or a low sofa without lifting anything. Wool throughout, and every centimeter of it woven by hand in Türkiye. A flatweave has nothing in it to absorb a footfall, so a kilim in a hallway is a rug you can hear — worth knowing before it goes down on a hard floor, and worth a pad underneath it either way.

02A question of size

Between them the five sizes cover a bedside, a small study and a sitting room, the biggest of them measuring 200 × 300 cm. A professional cleaner, when the day comes for one. Is handwoven in Türkiye as a wool flatweave, with no pile. Carries an abstract multicolor design by Studio Potato, called Inner Reflection. Builds every shape out of the weft, so curves arrive as steps. Finishes on both faces and can be reversed. Is offered in five sizes, 80 × 140 cm through 200 × 300 cm. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
